Position Summary
Working under the direction of and reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, this full-time term position is from now until September 30, 2021. The primary objective of this role is to assist the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) staff in maintaining a clean and safe community and to provide additional support through the capital project season.

 

Primary/Core Responsibilities

  • Assists the O&M department with big jobs and/or projects
  • Assists PRFN’s contract carpenters as required
  • Performs the duties of a greenskeeper, including maintaining all PRFN buildings, Elders residences, the graveyard, and around all septic tanks and fire hydrants
  • Cleans all gutters and downspouts in all PRFN buildings and all homes in the community,
  • Collects and disposes of all garbage in community, including big garbage such as furniture and old used appliances,
  • Operates PRFN equipment as required, including lawnmowers and power tools,
  • Identifies emergent situations and reports to the Operations and Maintenance Manager
  • Sets up and takes down tables, chairs and additional equipment as required
  • Follows guidelines relating to health and safety and reportable incidents
  • Maintains PRFN’s premises clean and organized
  • Monitors the environment daily for potential hazards, takes preventative action as required

 

Qualifications

Training, Education and Experience

  • Minimum completion of Grade 10 with Grade 12 preferred
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • WHIMS Certificate required.  Training can be provided
  • First Aid Level 1/CPR Certification
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions particularly on the use, application, and storage of cleaning chemicals and products
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, and gets along well with others
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a busy environment
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Good physical condition and stamina with the ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. safely and without assistance
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to create and follow effective daily routines, allowing for emerging needs
  • Friendly, positive, responsive, respectful, and helpful
  • Dependable and reliable, and flexible
